Over the years, this popular home renovation show has become Foxtel’s most successful Original Lifestyle series. It’s a no brainer they’ve commissioned season 15 for 2023. Before we head into the highly anticipated new season this year, let’s recap our efforts last season.
Mountain Cottage Oasis
Episode 2
After 12 months on the market, this historic old school house with very eclectic décor had no offers. The Selling Houses Australia team Wendy Moore, Dennis Scott and Andrew Winter renovated the property to boost its appeal. But would that be enough for a successful sale?
Homeowner and sculptor Steve, lived in the house for more than 25 years before making the decision to sell up and move eight hours away to be closer to family.
The Kitchen transformation involved resurfacing the old yellow laminate benchtops with ‘Starlight’ granite from our classic stone range.
Sold!
After the Selling Houses team renovated the entire home, it finally sold for exactly the amount Steve needed - $1.3million and he has moved on with his life. "I’m now living in my new place near Dubbo, and life's good and very different now. It’s a farm house set on 40 acres and it’s great for me. The new place is very different to the old one but it's my dream home. It’s huge. I reckon I could ride two motorbikes side by side down the hall!"
Empty Home
Episode 4
Sisters Sue and Jan were forced to make the tough decision to sell their beloved family home in order to keep their father, Robert, in his care home. The listed property which had been empty for two years, had received no interest after months on the market . It was clear the home needed a total renovation to appeal to a buyer.
Wendy and Dennis came to the rescue and installed a new kitchen. The drab basic kitchen was transformed into a huge kitchen/dining space with an impressive island. This renovation featured ‘White Diamond’ granite from our Classic Stone range.
Sold Before Auction!
Once the home was restored to its family-friendly best, it sold before auction for an incredible $2,100,000. Robert's residential care is now taken care of and there's more to spare for the sisters to invest too. “It's a lot of money and dad will never have to worry again about anything. It keeps him comfortable for the rest of his life. Sometimes he asks me to buy something for him and it's a lovely feeling to just say yes.”
Family Home
Episode 6
Princess and Inca needed a lower maintenance property to raise their two young daughters in. After their neighbours homes’ had sold for record prices, they thought their home would be snapped up quickly but they were out of luck. With a neglected bathroom that was out of use and a jungle of a backyard, they needed the team to renovate.
Sold Above Asking Price!
The Selling houses team came to the rescue and absolutely transformed the dark Mission Brown decor into a bright, contemporary family home. Both the Kitchen and Laundry were renovated using ‘Kaolinite’ stone from our marble collection.
The couple were thrilled when their home sold prior to auction for $2.54m – well above what they had hoped!
