PLANNING A LAUNDRY RENOVATION?
7 Laundry Tips, Tricks and Design Secrets for 2021
1. Amplify Laundry Storage
Floor to ceiling cupboards are the best way to de-clutter and conceal all those messy odds and ends that tend to build up over time in the laundry (or in the home for that matter).
They provide a streamlined and minimalist feel and by bringing your attention to the height of the ceiling, they can even make the room appear larger, especially when choosing doors in a lighter shade.
Sydney laundry designer, German Anchique, advises to mix and match cupboards, shelving and drawer space within the one unit to suit your needs. Flat style joinery is perfect for contemporary designs, while shaker style doors and panels evoke a classic aesthetic.
2. Concealed Laundry Hampers
Clean lines and clever storage are key in the laundry. More Sydney designers are incorporating the clothes hamper into storage spaces. The best spot being near the washing machine of course!
Allocating spaces designed to feature a stylish hamper is also a popular choice.
Why stop at one? You could have two or three hampers set in a row to separate your whites, blacks and colours. Talk about organised!
3. Pull Out Ironing Boards
Forget about carting around a cumbersome ironing board – they take up so much space and get in the way of, well… everything! Remember it’s all about reducing clutter and this trending idea takes up very little cabinet space in the laundry. Who doesn’t love a clever space-saving idea?
It’s so easy to pull out to iron and seamlessly push back in when you’re done. A simple addition or modification to an existing laundry that makes a huge difference. Once you try one, you’ll never go back!
4. Laundry Hang Rails
Practicality is key in the laundry. A handy hang rail beneath overhead cupboards makes the most of this unused area.
Perfect for ironed clothes or extra hanging space on those rainy days. It’s also a convenient place to hang delicates as soon as they come out of the wash. A sink strategically placed beneath the hang rail is practical for drip drying garments.
It’s especially useful to integrate as many practical features as possible to make the most of small laundry spaces.
5. Terrific Tapware
Add some glamour to your laundry. Brushed brass makes a real statement – a luxe piece that gives an instant high-end impression.
Square neck taps offer a modern design that complement square sinks beautifully.
Keeping with the elegant design but offering a more practical option, our designer style Gooseneck mixer features a flexible hose in trending black which makes washing items much easier – including your beloved pet!
6. Doggie Tubs
Speaking of pets, we’re starting to see many pet-owners, especially in the Sutherland Shire, incorporate doggie tubs into their laundry. It makes sense, the laundry room is the place where things go to get cleaned and a doggie tub alleviates the struggles pet owners face with current washing methods.
Once your beloved furry friend is fluffed up and smelling lush, you can throw the dirty towels straight into the wash. So easy!
7. Plants, Plants, Plants
Due to the many hard lines found in the laundry, the addition of plants will help brighten the space and add some texture.
We recommend the peace lily and mother-in-law’s tongue as they’re both super low maintenance and can tolerate low light.
Plants boost your mood, productivity and concentration, they help clean indoor air and add life to a sterile space – this is especially useful in an all-white laundry. Plants are also proven to make people happy… enough said!
