A stone benchtop overlay is typically applied using a process called “lamination,” where the thin layer of stone is bonded to the existing benchtop using a special adhesive. This is installed by professional tradespeople in as little as 1-2 days with minimal mess and fuss.
The time it takes to install a stone benchtop overlay can vary depending on the size and condition of the existing benchtop, but it typically takes a 1-3 days to install after taking accurate measurements and having the bench safely cut to size in our state-of-the-art Sydney-based factory.
Our products have been tried and tested for over 25 years, in over 1.5 million kitchens worldwide. Our stone is one of the most stain resistant products on the market.
Granite Transformation surfaces are heat resistant and not affected by temperatures lower than 180C. Like all stone material, Granite Transformations surfaces can be damaged by sudden and rapid heat changes. (thermal shock) so we always recommend that hot pots and pans never be placed directly on a Granite Transformations surface, but onto a chopping board or heat trivet.

One of the most common questions we are asked is ‘can you resurface laminate benchtops?’ The answer is yes, most definitely! Most types of benchtops, including laminate, wood, stone or tile can be overlaid with stone. The existing surface should be flat, level and in reasonable condition.
Stone benchtop resurfacing is the number 1 method of updating the look of your outdated kitchen benchtop.
Yes! The benefit of stone resurfacing is that we can seamlessly install a square-edged stone surface over an outdated curved or round-edged benchtop. Furthermore, benchtop overlay can be used to create a waterfall edge effect for a stunning modern look.
Yes! Many people do not realise it is possible to modify the shape of your existing benchtop when undertaking Granite Transformations kitchen makeover. Stone overlay can be used on both brand-new or existing benchtops and the shape of the existing benchtop can be changed or modified to optimise the use of the kitchen space. Whether you want a bigger sink, a different-sized cooktop or the inclusion of an island bench, this can all be achieved with stone benchtop resurfacing.
Our resurfacing will hide the outdated bullnose edge of your bench and replace it with a modern square-edge effect.
The benchtop colour you choose will depend on number of factors, but primarily whether you are renovating to sell or renovating for your family. If it is to sell, we recommend a classic white stone benchtop, which will appeal to most buyers. However, if you plan to stay in the home for many years, you should choose a kitchen benchtop colour to match your personal style and taste.
Marble is on trend and is especially popular where you have a simple benchtop shape. You can also look at the current kitchen colour trends of 2024, which tend toward more natural tones.

Marble gives a luxury kitchen look with a sense of sophistication and elegance.
Traditional marble is softer than granite, so more prone to scratching, and is too expensive for most families with a limited kitchen renovation budget.
However, marble kitchens have become more popular in the past few years, and we believe the trend for marble benchtops will continue to grow for many years to come. This is largely due to improvements in technology, in particular engineered marble overlay, which is more durable and cost-effective than traditional marble.
If you can push your budget a little further marble resurfacing is our favourite choice for your kitchen. View our marble range here.

Absolutely! Granite Transformations overlay is not limited to your benchtop, it can also be laid directly over your kitchen splashback, eliminating the need to remove and redo tiling, creating a smooth and easy-to-clean splashback surface. It can also be used on walls and floors, laundry, home office, outdoor BBQ areas and bathroom vanities.
The kitchen splashback, or backsplash, is the area or wall between the kitchen benchtop and the upper kitchen cabinets. This area is prone to splashing from cooking, especially the area behind the cooktop or sink. Today’s kitchen splashbacks are often an aesthetic feature of a kitchen renovation.
There are many different types of kitchen splashback. Some popular splashback options include tiles, hardened glass, timber or stainless steel. However, a very popular option is to match the backsplash with the benchtop, which can easily be achieved with stone overlay. Given the overlay is just 7mm in thickness it can just as easily be installed directly over any existing splashback for a mess-free, quick and easy alternative. Not only does it create a modern look kitchen, but it is also very easy to clean and maintain.
Granite Transformations stone surfaces are not limited to benchtop resurfacing, but are commonly used for kitchen splashbacks. Popular options include white stone overlay or marble overlay for a more luxurious kitchen.
A Granite Transformations benchtop will last for many years with proper care and maintenance. We stand by the quality of our products by offering a 10 year warranty on or stone and marble surfaces.
