Brief
We were approached by MadeComfy; specialists in property management for Airbnb, and were asked to provide an affordable kitchen makeover to help transform a rundown Sydney apartment into an inviting and homely short-term stay rental for Airbnb.
MadeComfy’s Property Styling and Furnishing service is second to none. They managed to inject style and character into this unit to enhance its occupancy rate and increase returns.

Kitchen Before
Old and tired, this kitchen was in desperate need of a facelift.
We resurfaced the benchtop with our own unique stone and replaced the kitchen doors and panels for new.
New cabinets were also added to the under-utilised space at the far end wall allowing for extra storage and a much needed appliances area.
Kitchen After
Both benchtop and doors were selected from our standard range which helped keep costs down without sacrificing on quality.
Stardust stone is a popular choice wich shines with a fresh elegance and calm. Our melamine doors come in a wide range of colours and finishes including contemporary timber looks and a choice of handles or handleless.
Upgrading both the benchtop and doors allowed us to swap the outdated sink, tap and freestanding oven for modern integrated appliances.
We also incorporated a new washing machine into the kitchen. This adds a metropolitan touch to improve the apartment’s features and optimise the limited space. See more Before & Afters.
Art Deco Style
In keeping with the Art Deco style of the building, the interior designers made use of the apartment’s high ceilings and timber flooring by adding a fresh and vibrant coat of paint to highlight the charming picture rails, trimmings and architraves.
We recommend Dulux Terrace White for homes with old-world charm. It has a hint of grey and pairs beautifully with Lexicon half, a current favourite amongst renovators. We’ve also used Terrace White in our newly renovated showroom.
Décor Placements
The décor is understated with rich fabrics, high contrast colours and fine art to celebrate the luxury and sophistication of this era.
The minimalist style ensures the space remains open and uncluttered, a must for smaller apartments.
Upgraded Charm
The use of stone for the kitchen benchtop and marble table top in the living room further demonstrate the “modern world” style of the 1920s-1930s.

Living Before
This aparment had good bones but needed a fresh coat of paint, a smart kitchen makeover and an eye for design in line with the building’s Art Deco style.
